Harold Wilber Severson
Apr 16, 2018Harold Wilber Severson of rural Trempealeau (Centerville), passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Grand View Care Center, Blair, Wis.He was born Dec. 11, 1920, to Edwin and Madge Severson in Holcomb Coulee, rural Arcadia, Wis. The family later moved, in 1933, to settle on a farm in rural Trempealeau. He graduated from Galesville High School in 1938.After graduation he continued on his parent’s farm. He married Marjorie Celesta Fink Oct. 4, 1952, in Arcadia. They bought their own farm nearby at that time and dairy farmed until “retirement” in 1984, when they built a new home on an adjacent farm, while two sons took over day to day farm operations. Harold continued helping out at planting and harvest times and repairing equipment for many years.He was active in curling in his younger years and was one of the founding members of the Centerville Curling Club, started in 1949. In later years, he enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, watching Packers football and John Deere tractors. He was a quiet man of few words but with soft spoken quick wit and nuggets of wisdom gained from almost a century long life.Survivors include his children, Ron Severson of Onalaska, Wis., Rick (Lori) Severson of Galesville, Randy (Mary) Severson of Trempealeau, Russ Severson of Trempealeau, Rochelle (Matt) Garcia of Red Wing, Minn; his grandchildren, Cami Solsrud, Tina Severson, Kylee (John) Bautch, Sam, Sidney and Sophie Severson, Jackson Garcia; and his great-grandchildren, Calvin Gilbertson and Ashtyn Kabus, Reese and Rylan Solsrud, Mason and Maverick Bautch.He was preceded in death by is wife, Marge; his daughter, Renee Severson; parents; and a brother, Gile Severson.Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, from Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel, with Vicar Paul Sannerud officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Centerville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday. (Winona Daily News)
